EXHIBITING ON PROPERTY.

We welcome you to see what Terrick West Poll Merinos can offer your breeding program - On Property Ram Sale Friday 8th August 2025.

Terrick West was established in 1933 on a foundation of Coonong, Wanganella, and later Haddon Rig bloodlines. In 1948, a Poll Merino ram was introduced from Poll Boonoke, and by 1956, the Poll Stud was officially registered. The stud has always been classed within the family, with Ross McGauchie gradually taking over operations throughout the 1970s.

Over the decades, Terrick West has embraced the evolution of the modern Poll Merino. We’ve moved away from the traditional wrinkly type to develop a much larger-framed, plain-bodied, highly fertile and commercially focused sheep. Our young rams regularly reach over 100kg still with their lambs teeth, while fleece weights have increased and micron levels have dropped- delivering greater performance and profitability for commercial and stud clients alike.

Breeding Goals and Objectives:
At Terrick West, we breed with purpose: to produce structurally sound, well-balanced Poll Merinos with exceptional wool and carcase attributes. Our goals are to combine fertility, doing ability, and plain-bodied structure with high-value, stylish, white wool in the 17-19 micron range. We place emphasis on ASBVs as a tool to complement visual classing and to offer clients confidence in consistent genetic progress. Pedigree recording and the use of DNA technologies underpin our selection process to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Why Try Terrick West?

That's why we focus on breeding rams that are ready to work, carry themselves well in a range of environments, and leave a lasting impact on both wool and meat income.
